Well, board games are only brought out at holidays, and the idea of finding a place to store one in my apartment is slightly nauseating. so playing clue has sadly fallen by the wayside for the past few years.

But recently I played Hasbros newish video game version of the 50 year old gaming classic.

Its pricey - so I only played the free trial... but i will admit a strong temptation to buy. I am very happy with the art deco stylized illustration of the game, and it seems to move quickly, even while playing all the characters.

There are three difficulty levels you can set for you opponents, which i think makes the game more true to life, set a few at rookie and the rest at expert to mimic your competitive sister and 'not so into this' neighbor.

Sorry mom for never letting you play the cool characters... you're the best.

i {heart} type : typewriter typefaces

Typewriters are a bit out of date even for me... even though i wouldn't mind having one, the idea of using one is slightly painful. These typefaces however make the pain sting a little less - I had no idea there were different fonts for different machines! In fact, you can download them all here - for free! so you can have that great vintage feel - and your delete key.

Little does he know the case will not only change his future, but also give him great insight into his past.

Set in new orleans, this 1993 title is high on both pixels and charm. you wont be dissappointed (if you cant get this to run, its also available in novel form)

the pearl

so you're allowed to be jealous...

because i went to beautiful san diego CA
to visit my sister at the end of january

while i was there i went to see the pearl hotel,
which was mentioned over at Oh Joy last july

I know my pictures aren't as good as hers (i should've gone at night)
but my review of what i saw was "tiny"

there aren't many photos because that's really all there is to see. it had a cool vibe,
and i bet its a great bar, but i need to remind myself that retro in its true sense is
usually a smaller scale than i would hope.

on the contrary

can't get enough of the new paying homage to the old - and it's functional!
