Turns out it was illustrated by Edward Gorey. His imagery is best described as dark, witty & Edwardian. He lived in Cape Cod - and I think a visit to his home/museum just jumped to the top of my to-do list.
His humor is dark, and his style is eerie, but funny and beautiful at the same time.

Wow, I remember this show and I never thought to research on the artist of all those introductions. It used to freak me out when I was younger lol. This is extremely informational and I'll probably have to check out his home/ museum during the summer. Thanks for sharing.
